How Important are Engine Oil Filters?
Oil filters play a bigger role in the operation and longevity of your vehicle’s engine than you might realize. They’re within the lubrication system, designed to remove contaminants and impurities from the circulating engine oil. They are typically made from materials like pleated paper, synthetic fibers, or metal mesh. They capture particles like dirt, debris, and metal fragments that can accumulate in the oil over time.
When to Replace Oil Filters
Replacing your oil filters regularly should be part of your routine engine maintenance. Doing so helps ensure the continued efficiency and reliability of your vehicle. As a good rule of thumb, you should replace the oil filter every time you change your oil. If you have an older vehicle, that can range between every 3,000-5,000 miles. Any car manufactured within the last decade could do with every 6,000-7,500 miles.
Use our VIN search filter to find the right parts for your vehicle, whether that be Ford, GM, or Mopar.
