How Air Filters Work

Air filters draw unclean air through the fine filter openings. Any unwanted particles larger than the openings do not pass through, separating from the passing air and leaving the filter with significantly reduced particle content. Filters are replaced to prevent them from clogging or binding and restricting airflow.

Types of Air Filters

Air filters have a single piece of synthetic fiber or mesh with tiny, microscopic perforations contained within a frame.

Pleated Air Filter

Pleated air filters capture small, microscopic particles. They have higher filtration efficiency and improve air quality since they capture odor, bacteria, pollen grains, molds, and other allergens.

Non-Pleated Air Filter

Non-pleated air filters have less filtration and are found where there are higher air pressures and volumetric flow rates. They have a shorter service life and require more frequent replacement or cleaning.

Paper Air Filter

Paper air filters help separate small particles from the airflow by allowing the air to pass through the fine pores.

Foam Air Filter

Foam filters have a high dirt retention capacity, making them better for exhaust filters and filters in the intake systems.
